About the Author

     
 
Douglas Frans, Ph.D. Has been a social work practitioner, educator, lecturer and researcher over a 30 year professional career. His primary clinical work has been in the mental health area where he specialized in work with addictive disorders and dual diagnosis working in both private practice settings as well as for mental health and Addiction Recovery Centers. He has practiced primarily from a comeptency-based perspective utilizing the principles of empowerment practice and power leveraging. Doug began researching personal empowerment in the late 1980's while at the University of Denver and has pursued this work for almost 20 years. He has several publications on this and related topics and has lectured nationwide.
